England and Newcastle Falcons fly half Jonny Wilkinson completed a six-hour signing session at the Twickenham Stadium Rugby Store last night. The signing was to promote Jonny’s new book Tackling Life, written with fitness conditioner Steve Black and published by Headline. The first fans arrived at 2pm, a full four and a half hours before the signing started at 6.30pm. Around 550 supporters waited for up to four hours to get their books signed with the session eventually finishing at 12.45am, nearly five hours after it was scheduled to end. Andy Ward, Head of Retail for the Rugby Football Union, said: “Last night was an unprecedented event for the Rugby Store, which gave hundreds of fans the opportunity to meet one of the legends of the game. “I would like to thank Jonny for his support on the night, the Headline Publishing Group, all of the fans and the staff who worked into the early hours of the morning.” |
